Casa Batllo joins the international event #MakeHeritageFun GoUNESCO
On Sunday 13th March, Casa Batllo took part in the fourth edition of #MakeHeritageFun with a visit from specialists and followers of the modernist gem!
A visit where participants from the culture, tourism and education sectors, along with several lucky winners of a Facebook contest, enjoyed their visit to the Casa Batllo with a Smartguide that is enhanced reality. The video guide is available in 10 languages, which began to be offered during visits to this World Heritage in early 2014. Last year it was incorporated into the price of the visit, and has already been enjoyed by more than 775,000 people.
#MakeHeritageFun Attendees, highlighted the virtual videoguide that Casa Batllo offers in their publications on social networks therefore expanding knowledge about this inovative technology. This technology that has been applied to this heritage, allows the visitors to discover on the one hand how the Batlló family lived, the furniture they had, their disposal, etc. On the other hand to get to know all about imagination that Gaudí designed this House in 1904 from, seeing in his way things like, skylights that are shaped like turtle shells or the attic that produces the feeling in the visitor of being inside the ribcage of a large animal and answering all the keen interest that Gaudí had for nature.
The #MakeHeritageFun action is a social proposal organized by GoUNESCO, which has the support of UNESCO India and whose main objective is to educate the public of the rich heritage for it´s conservation and preservation, through a triple axis: explore, document and share. This action was also developed in Mexico, where they toured the Historic center of Mexico City, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987, in Peru, where they visited the Ventarrón archaeological complex in Pomalca, and other cities in more than 15 countries. A successful participation that for the first time took place on six continents.
As it is the first year in which Casa Batllo participates in this action, we wanted to evaluate it through sending a satisfaction survey to participants. The results revealed the appropriacy of this type of action to bring the heritage to the society, thus 100% of the serveyed indicated that the initiative found it very interesting to get to know Casa Batllo, with the same percentage indicating that the experience was positive, and recommend that it is done again. Overall the visit with the Virtual videoguide of enhanced reality was a pleasant surprise for the participants, even 90% of them indicated that they would recommend it to family and friends.
We also asked the serveyed to summarize their experience as participants of #MakeHeritageFun and these were some of their comments:
«For me it was a very novel experience because I had never done the visit with enhanced reality before.»
«Interactive, magical and I think difficult to improve»
«Very interesting and recommended»
«Sharing ideas about culture with other people with similar interests, through technology»

From Casa Batllo, we want to thank the whole team at GoUNESCO for their support and advice in order to develop our first #MakeHeritageFun and of course, to thank each and every one of the attendees for their participation and enthusiasm, without them, this event would not have been possible.
