Corea del Sur se rinde a la magia de Antoni Gaudí
(Español) Una exposición itinerante recorre desde el pasado 31 de julio y hasta el 29 de mayo de 2016 diversos museos y centros culturales de Corea del Sur.
The attraction of Asians to Gaudí is undeniable. His creativity, the colors, the shapes, his respect for nature as well as the use of the materials are just a few reasons why Asian tourism, attracted by the constructive work of Gaudí, is increasing in Barcelona. But this time it was Gaudí who came to this Asian country known for its tradition in the field of ceramics and especially the application of the Dancheong decorative technique in its architecture. A technique characterized by the use of bright colors believed to protect against natural phenomena (wind, rain, etc.).
The exhibition presents a comprehensive and rigorous insight of all the architect’s career. This has been possible thanks to funds from the Cátedra Gaudí of the Universitat Politènica de Catalunya and the support of various institutions related to Gaudí who contributed with several pieces to show the Korean public all the creativity of the architect. The company in charge of the exhibition design has been Aurea Culture and Art.
“Antoni Gaudí. Barcelona” includes a total of 169 works, a hundred photographs and several audiovisual documentaries. The tour is divided into six sections starting with his biography and first works as a student and newly graduated architect, and the relationship between the architect and his great patron, Eusebi Guell. Later, two exhibition areas are dedicated to his major urban residences and also the furniture and decoration applied to them. The exhibition closes with a section on the Sagrada Familia and a series of 21 pictures that Joan Miró devoted to the work of Gaudí, whom he met while attending drawing classes at Cercle de Sant Lluc.
The exhibition includes several pieces that show all the magic of Casa Batllo, specifically a spectacular model scaled 1:20 with lighting, four original tiles from the lightwell, an original iron grate belonging to an indoor balcony and an award-winning video on the International Festival of Tourist Films in Riga entitled “LOVE”, where the house comes to life thanks to the effects of augmented reality and 3D.
Undoubtedly, “Antoni Gaudí. Barcelona” is an excellent opportunity to bring the history and work of the great architect to the Korean public.
