Casa Batlló closes its doors temporarily to prevent the spread of COVID-19
The temporary closure will begin on Saturday, March 14 at 8:30 am. The measures seek to prevent the spread of the virus and are an act of institutional responsibility in order to stop infections and prevent the collapse of the health system.
Casa Batlló, work of Antoni Gaudí, World Heritage Site by UNESCO, one of the most important icons of tourism in Barcelona and Catalonia has so far acted responsibly following the prevention regulations issued by the WHO and the health authorities of the Generalitat of Catalonia. However, it has decided to go one step further to break the possible chain of transmission and infection. It is for this reason that it stands in solidarity with the infrastructure and events of the cultural sector that until now have been forced to provisionally close their activities.
As a cultural entity and a World Heritage site, Casa Batlló considers within its responsibilities to ensure the health and well-being of all people, fundamental principles of our society and of life.
Gary Gautier, General Director of Casa Batlló, has stated: “Casa Batlló closes its doors temporarily out of respect for our city, out of love for our beloved ones, out of commitment to our visitors, in order to help stop the spread of this pandemic and with the intention of avoiding the collapse of the health system. ”
Casa Batlló hopes that this decision will be understood by local citizens and visitors, and will contribute to the speedy recovery of this pandemic and the improvement of health in Barcelona and in the world.
In turn, the entity has communicated to its workers that the priority tasks will continue to be carried out remotely, including service to suppliers and collaborators.
