This Christmas, the magic of Casa Batlló comes to Hong Kong

"Walking with Gaudí" presents the work of the incomparable Catalan architect until 1 January

In recent months Casa Batlló has undertaken various activities to develop links with China. After the launch of the website and our videoguide in Chinese, we opened direct communication channels with people in China, using the country’s two leading social networks: Weibo and Wechat. Subsequently the Chinese New Year was celebrated in Barcelona, marking the Year of the Fire Rooster, followed by the « Lychee Film Festival », the first Chinese film festival to be held in Barcelona, and now, at Christmas, Casa Batlló will be present in Hong Kong.

From 12 November 2017 to 1 January 2018 visitors to the Telford Plaza shopping centre (which belongs to the MTR Malls chain) in Hong Kong will be able to discover Gaudí’s magic via the exhibition « Walking with Gaudí« . The exhibition features a number of large-scale reproductions of works by the world famous Catalan architect, providing an exceptional opportunity for intercultural dialogue with China. As Gary Gautier, Director of Casa Batlló, points out “for Casa Batlló this exhibition in Hong Kong constitutes an authentic decentralisation of the classic concept of the travelling exhibition, a cultural display that can be experienced and enjoyed by all members of the public ».

Casa Batlló presents a specially designed display featuring photographs of the house, explanatory videos of the interior and models which enable visitors to appreciate the dimensions of this UNESCO World Heritage building. Casa Batlló also shows its commitment to new technologies with a virtual reality audiovisual that is being exclusively premiered during this exhibition in the Telford Plaza centre. Made by Casa Batlló, with technological support from Samsung, the audiovisual allows visitors to enjoy an immersive experience using a virtual reality headset. They can enter the main spaces of the Casa Batlló to discover the symbolism and the dreamlike world embodied by Gaudí in this art nouveau building, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2005.
