We are celebrating the Chinese and Korean Lunar New Year
For second time, Casa Batlló honours Asian culture
Even though we are on the second month of 2018, Chinese and Korean people are celebrating their new year this February with their “Spring Festivity”. They celebrate the Lunar New Year arrival on the 16th of Februrary. Before, during and after that day, the Chinese and Korean people celebrate the coming of the year with their own traditions, and the team of Casa Batlló has dived into their culture to follow the purpose of getting to know Asia.
Calligraphy, cuisine and Yut Nori workshops
During the month of January, our team has prepared for the Lunar Year through the celebration of 3 workshops to know better how Chinese and Korean people celebrate these special moments.
Specifically, we have done a Chinese calligraphy workshop were we learnt the vital importance of calligraphy in their country and how they are instructed in this art since they are little.
We also did a Chinese and Korean cuisine workshop where we learnt how to do dumplings and Tteokguk, so to say, the most typical dishes cooked in China and Korea respectively during these festivities. For the Casa Batlló team, it was a true pleasure to be able to cook these two dishes with the help of two professional cooks of these two countries.
Last, but not least, we learnt how to play Yut Nori, a traditional Korean game similar to the Spanish parchís and with which we had a great time in the office knowing a little bit more about the leisure of Korean culture.
