Do you know what hidden interpretations can be found in the facade of Casa Batlló?

Throughout its recent history, many legends have been created around Casa Batlló, but very few people know what they are. We know that Gaudí himself paid tribute to the legend of Sant Jordi (Saint George), the patron saint of Catalonia, by crowning the facade with what appears to be a dragon’s back as well as a four-armed cross. Some interpretations have compared the facade pictorially to Monet’s Water Lilies, and others have linked it to aspects of the carnival: the crown of the facade resembles a harlequin’s hat, the colourful mosaic looks like confetti and the shape of the railings is reminiscent of masks.

It is known locally as the house of the bones, the house of the masks, the house of the yawns and the house of the dragon.

Discover how all of those intrepretations came to life during audiovisual mapping show, held on October 20th, 21st
