Celebrating Chinese New Year at Casa Batlló

We light up the façade in red to celebrate the most important traditional festival in the Chinese calendar

Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival, is celebrated in China and other East and Southeast Asian countries. Celebrations begin on the first day of the lunar month and last 15 days. This year, we are celebrating it at Casa Batlló with different initiatives.

Illumination of the façade in red

On 7 February at 8 pm, we will illuminate the façade in red with an official lighting by the Chinese consul in Barcelona. For this event, we will have a traditional dragon show in the street, a Chinese children’s choir concert, and 20 people dressed in traditional Ming Dynasty costumes.

Arc de Triomf Chinese New Year Fair

The Barcelona City Council organizes this fair. We will share a stand with the Buddhist community of Hui Hai Shan, with whom we usually collaborate.

By the way, it is the year of the dragon, and Casa Batlló hides one on its roof! Perhaps that’s why Barcelona Tourism has selected us to be the official image of its Chinese New Year greeting, which heads this article.

Happy Dragon Year to all of you!
