In 2023, Casa Batlló took a further step in its commitment to social and human values by officially joining the European Union Diversity Charter. This initiative, promoted by the European Commission, encourages organisations to develop active policies that ensure equal opportunities, non-discrimination and real inclusion for all people, regardless of their origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability or other personal characteristics.
By signing the Charter, Casa Batlló joins a network of companies and institutions that work toward diverse and equitable workplaces, recognising that a plurality of perspectives enriches teams, enhances creativity, and improves the experience of those around us — including visitors, professionals, collaborators and local communities.
This milestone is part of a broader strategy for social sustainability, which includes actions such as inclusive hiring of neurodivergent individuals, awareness campaigns for social causes displayed on the building’s façade, and citizen participation programmes. Signing the Diversity Charter is not only a symbolic gesture, but also a public statement of principles and an active commitment to transforming the organisational culture from within.
As a cultural icon and UNESCO World Heritage site, Casa Batlló understands that preserving Gaudí’s legacy also means projecting his values into the future — a future that can only be built on respect, diversity and social justice.
