Casa Batlló pushes innovation in its tour with a new indoor localization system

The localization system is a pioneering initiative that enhances the visitor experience and the intelligent management of the museum space, and will be unveiled for the first time at the Night of the Museums this Saturday, May 17th.

Casa Batlló once again positions itself at the forefront of museum innovation with the launch of this high-impact technology aimed at transforming the experience of its visitors and incorporating smart tools for the operational management of the building.

Financed by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism and by the European Union under the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, this project is a solid step towards the museum of the future.

Technologies serving experience and management

The main objective of the project is to implement an advanced indoor localization and navigation system, based on Beacon technology, to know in real time the position of visitors and internal staff within the building. This will allow Casa Batlló to monitor and analyze visitor flows and obtain key data to design personalized experiences.
This innovative infrastructure is structured around three fundamental components:

Indoor navigation system, which will allow visitors to be precisely guided through the building.

Mobile app for visitors, designed to offer enriched content tailored to the exact point in the tour where each person is located.

Data management and processing hub, aimed at Casa Batlló’s internal team, which will collect and analyze behavior patterns to make strategic decisions based on real data.

Intelligence to personalize the visit of the future

In addition to optimizing daily operations and museum security, the system will be able to integrate information in order to build a knowledge base about visitors’ preferences, interests, and habits.
This technological deployment is the first step towards a digital ecosystem that will allow for the addition of new layers of technology and data. The long-term goal is to design highly personalized and seamless cultural experiences, where interaction with the heritage space is enriched by data intelligence.

With this initiative, Casa Batlló reaffirms its leadership in the use of technology to make heritage a more accessible, participatory, and exciting space.
