Sofar Sounds and Amnesty International join in more than 300 cities to rise money for refugees

As part of Casa Batlló’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, and after collaborating in different actions with NGOs such as Fundació Arrels, Aldeas Infantiles, Banc de Sang and Clowns without Borders, Casa Batlló now adds “Give a Home” scenario: The global charity music event by Sofar Sounds and Amnesty International.

What is Sofar Sounds?
Sofar (Songs From A Room) is defined as a network of secret concerts in unknown houses. To make it possible, three things are necessary: the hosts who put their house to hold the concert, the artists and of course the audience. Rafe Offer and Rocky Start created this network in London in 2009 and since then Sofar Sounds has performed concerts in more than 368 cities around the world.

What is Amnesty International?
A global movement that has been active in the fight for human rights in more than 150 countries since the sixties. Among its objectives, it is important to end the violations of human rights of the LGTBI collective, abolish the death penalty, defend children Rights and protect the human rights of refugees. Now Sofar Sounds and Amnesty are joining forces worldwide with “Give A Home” September 20th. A day where more than 300 concerts will be held in more than 60 countries, with artists such as Ed Sheeran, James Morrison and The National. Casa Batlló joins this cause by giving some of the space of this modernist jewel created by Antoni Gaudí to hold one of these concerts. The objective is to raise funds for the current global crisis of refugees. Let´s not forget that more than 21 million people have been forced to flee their country of origin because of war, persecution and extreme poverty.

The poster “Give A Home” in Barcelona has been made by the well-known cartoonist Paula Bonet who has inspired all those dark and uninhabited and habitable spaces, and those closed spaces owned by banks and construction companies.
