The Award for the Conservation of Architectural Heritage
Europa Nostra is the voice of cultural heritage in Europe. It is a pan-European cultural heritage organisation which is recognised by the European Commission, the executive body of the EU.
The Europa Nostra awards were established in 1963, and the Hispania Nostra Association is the organisation responsible for the translation, dissemination and coordination of these in Spain.
In 2006, 38 prizes were shared out among 21 European countries. Casa Batlló was awarded this accolade in recognition of its conservation of architectural heritage.
